Favorites on Friday...The Spoonflower Addition
Oh my, I am having quite a time trying to find fabric I like for a little boy! I just can't bring myself to do skulls or sports balls or trucks yet. It is so easy with girls....so many choices. I spent two hours at the fabric store today looking for fabrics to use for some pods I plan to make for this little guy and his cousin. I found some OK fabric but nothing I am giddy about. If only I had an extra $150 to spend on fabric from Spoonflower ( I may break down and have to buy a few yards because seriously people there is some awesome stuff over there)! At least I can share some of my favorite artists with you (p.s. Chris did send me the cutest robot fabric that I am giddy about and just trying to decide what to use it for...I'll keep you posted):

Heather Dutton's work is adorable.
Susanne Firmenich's "Play with Me" print is on my wish list as well as some of the other folk art fabric...beyond adorable.
I am swooning over everything trois miettes has to offer...seriously so great.
Katty Neill has some great stuff too. I really like the tree circle fabric.
Love the color Ann Tuck uses in her designs...so bright and rich.
Cindy Lindgren's patterns are simple and just lovely too. I'm loving the pea pod pattern and the thistle.
And we end with Tara Put, whose work can be summed up in three words... AWE MAZE INC. Seriously.

An Afternoon of Drawing...
What an awesome day! The girls all wanted to draw and color today and they actually stayed busy doing it long enough for me to finish this little Valentine girl (and then, are you ready? They slept for 2 hours). I'm working on making a few things to sell for Valentines Day and this is one of them. I love her socks and her braids remind me of a girl I knew in grade school. She always wore her hair like this and I always thought she was so pretty. :)

One Year Older...
I know I don't have to tell most of you how quickly these little lives seem to go...I always get a little bit teary when I think of how fast it is going. But it's so fun to watch them grow too and to get to know them and I'm so glad they are healthy and happy.
We had two little parties for the twins this year. One on the 15th (their actual big day) with my brothers and our beloved neighbors and one with Jeff's parents and sister on the 16th. They are loved by so many and we are so blessed to have them in our lives.

Favorites on Friday...The Home Decorating Version
So, we still haven't even come close to selling our home which isn't surprising with the holidays and snow everywhere here but keeping this house organized and clean and decorating a future home has been on my mind a lot lately. I've found some jewels in the blogosphere and thought I'd share them with you! Here are some of my new favorites:
I'm sure most of you have heard of The Nesting Place. I love her style and her humor...great blog!
The House of Turquoise is a new favorite. I think you'll like it too! Very inspiring.
Oh man, Hooked on Houses definitely has me hooked! So many inspiring ideas here and such a clean and beautiful blog...love it!
Centsational Girl is one I've been following for a while...great ideas and nice layout.
Knock Off Decor is a new one and pretty cool. It even has categories for each store the decor is knocked off from...places like pottery barn, Restoration Hardware...you know all of your favorites that are usually out of my price range!
Life in Grace is a blog about Edie's life with her family and her beautiful southern home...unfortunately her home burned to the ground just a few weeks ago so now she is letting us watch how her and her family are picking up the pieces and rebuilding. She is really a good writer and so inspiring.

I'm an Organizing Junkie has been good to keep things looking clean and somewhat organized over here...which isn't an easy task with three toddlers I might add...but she has some great advice and tips.

Christmas Glimpses
I know, I know it's January 12th and here I am posting about Christmas! I hope this doesn't give you the feeling seeing Christmas trees still in peoples homes or lights still lit in February gives me.:) But I thought you might indulge me:
The start of our newest tradition: We gave each of the girls an ornament to put on the tree. They will get a new one every year to open when it's time to decorate the Christmas tree. My mom had this little tree up and ready for us when we got to Reno. Thanks Mom!

Spending one of many late nights working on gifts that I didn't get done before we left.
We gave the twins little Melissa and Doug play house/barn so I made little peg dolls for them to play with inside their houses/barn. They were so fun to make and the girls actually like them. (bonus) :)

and then there's death...or The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come (aka Sarah...and it looks like she has plans for my youngest brother, her husband, Cedric).
He doesn't seem to mind...I guess I'd better explain...my cousin Jessica (who is living with my parents helping to care for Grandma Dahl) invited us all to a Charles Dickens party...we were also invited to dress up as a character from one of his books/writings. So Cedric was the Ghost of Christmas Present...let's just say this man was made for this costume.

This is what Grandma did most of the time...I hope she had turned down her hearing aids at this point...it was a loud/crazy house most of the time. She was a trooper and smiled a lot.She'll be 94 this year.

Jessica's dress was amazing. She sewed it herself...seriously cool. One little note, this is really what my dad sleeps in. He's had this particular gown for years now...I think the hat is new. One of the many reasons I love him.

The view one morning...
My one and only sister Britta and her family came Christmas Eve. Her birthday is a couple of days before Christmas so we celebrated a little late with a Birthday Breakfast.
I got her a Silhouette machine. This girl never asks for anything people so when she said one day that all she wanted was a Silhouette I knew I had to get it somehow (thanks Paper Dolls). Her reaction was so perfect...it was the highlight of my holiday! :)

Jordan and Ruth did a cute story that required bells to be rung at every time they said "Rudolph", I think? I had to put this picture of Maisy doing the face that she only does when she's overwhelmed by excitement...She usually opens her mouth like that and then shakes her arms really fast...it's hilarious and a little disturbing. :)

There is just a 10th of what actually happened. It was such a fun year...so great that the twins "got it" a lot more this year...I can't wait for next year to really start some traditions and see what they learn from it all.
